  • 2 oz Gin (London Dry)
  • 0.75 oz Lemon juice (fresh)
  • 0.5 oz Simple syrup (1:1)
  • 0.5 oz Crème de mûre (blackberry liqueur)
  • Lemon wedge, 2 blackberries

Build

Shake gin, lemon, and simple with ice for 12 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass filled with crushed ice. Drizzle crème de mûre over the top so it bleeds down through the ice. Garnish with a lemon wedge and 2 blackberries on a pick.

Dick Bradsell, Fred's Club London, 1984. Bradsell trying to invent a quintessentially British cocktail. Crushed ice is the visual signature.
