SOP: Intoxication cutoff

Over-intoxication is handled with discretion and respect. Cut off kindly. Never publicly. Never argue.

Signs to watch for

  • Slurred speech or repeated stories
  • Trouble walking or standing
  • Aggressive or inappropriate behavior toward other guests or staff
  • Falling asleep at the bar
  • Visible disorientation

The cutoff

  1. Stop pouring alcohol for that guest. No exceptions.
  2. Offer water and a non-alcoholic alternative. Frame it as a gesture, not a punishment.
  3. Offer food.
  4. Quietly tell the MOD.
  5. Help arrange a ride if needed. Have the host call a car.

Never

  • Announce the cutoff to other guests
  • Argue with the cut-off guest
  • Let them leave alone if visibly impaired without offering help
  • Serve them again that night, even if they ask politely

Track: Safety + Compliance.
